AHS Students Receive Prizes in FCCA Essay Contest

Dateline St. George’s. Grenada’s finalists in both categories of the 2008 FCCA Foundation for the Caribbean Children’s Essay Contest have received their prizes for participating. The two Anglican High School students Kameila Nedd and Claireece McGuire were both presented with their cheques from the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) at a brief ceremony during the Monday morning assembly of the school.

HIP! HIP! HOORAY!

This was my initial gut feeling when I entered the newly refurbished ‘bottom half’ of the school on Thursday, September 12, 2008. Last minute touches were being applied to the dividers for the new class-rooms that will be stationed here and there was a skip in the Principals voice and walk as she guided me through the new assembly hall and bathrooms ending at the newly built staff-room, overlooking the ‘flat’ and Tanteen.

Your Excellency, Mr. Carlyle Glean, Governor General, Canon Christian Glasgow, Manager of the School, the Honourable Glynis Roberts, Minister of Social Development, Social Security, Ecclesiastic Affairs and Labour, Representatives from the Ministry of Education and other ministries, the members of the governing body of the school, members of the clergy, specially invited guests, parents and guardians, staff of the school, graduates, good afternoon.

AHS CELEBRATES 90 YEARS

The Anglican High School as it is known today was born from the original name “Church of England
High School” for girls. This distinguished institution will celebrate ninety (90) years of unbreakable
service to the education system in Grenada, on September 18, 2006.

AHS CELEBRATES 91 YEARS

Last year, the Anglican High School’s present, past and prospective students marked their
90th year with a special anniversary service at the Grenada Boys Secondary School
Auditorium, Sunday 17th September at 5pm. A special article to commemorate this event
was published in this newspaper.
